Who are the Best International Schools in Portugal?

Although Portugal is a small country in terms of area and population, it has more than 60 international schools and some of them are very highly placed in several international rankings.

One of the reasons for such a high-density of international schools is the fact that currently the foreign population is about 15% of the total population and some of the most affluent groups like the US and UK citizens are increasing at a twofold rate every year.

The bulk is located in the two major cities in Portugal, Lisbon and Porto, and some others in areas where there´s a growing number of expats, like Algarve and Madeira.

International schools in Portugal have on average, a quite high standard of education and a personalized teaching focused on the abilities and goals of each student.

The annual tuition fees of the best schools tend to vary from around €10,000 to 20,000. These values might seem relatively high compared with local public and private schools but are quite low compared with many other western countries, including the United States and United Kingdom.

Most of the schools have their curriculum based in English language and a small number in French, Spanish or German.

In the English area, their curriculum is primarily based in the most familiar programs like Cambridge, IB, iGCSE and A-Levels.
